Text Box: Road Conditions
Thanks to the hard work of some of our Directors and volunteer Association members, and the cooperation of Armour Township and the O.P.P., we have been able to address some concerns regarding traffic, road conditions and general safety on roads around Three Mile Lake.
The volume and speed of gravel trucks operating out of the pit on Three Mile Lake Road as Highway 11 construction heightens has been a concern. New speed limit signs are now in place, and monitoring of traffic between Highway 11 and the gravel pit continues. In addition, patching of the road will continue each week (weather permitText Box: ting) while trucks continue to run this route.
It will be necessary to remove some trees along Sunnylea in order to improve visibility, allow for easier snow removal, and allow for improvements to ditches for proper drainage. This work will be completed this Fall.
White lines on the section of road at the ‘T’ intersection of Sunnylea and Three Mile Lake Road will also be added in the Spring to help with negotiation of that intersection.
The issue of safety at the boat launch has also been discussed with the Township. There are limited options, as moving the boat launch would be expensive. However, the Township will Text Box: be clearing brush to improve visibility and ensuring that appropriate ‘caution’ signs are in place. In addition, gravel will be added to the boat launch itself to improve traction and allow for easier and safer removal of boats.
Thanks again to the Directors and volunteers who have worked diligently with the Township and O.P.P. to improve the safety of our roads!
