“Our Community Works”: Skate-A-Thon
Results and Fundraising Update
January 22, 2007…Update!
TMLCC member pledges are now up to over $1,000!!
January 17, 2007
Thanks to
the incentive of $300 in pledge money, the Three Mile Lake “Skate-A-Thon” entrant (Rod Ward)
was able to help push the total for the event to over $3,200 in the “Our
Community Works” fundraiser on January 14.
Between the fundraising sponsored by TMLCC at the All-Candidates meeting
in October, and these latest pledges, the association has now raised over $500
to help renovate the arena in Burk’s Falls. This has helped Bruce Campbell and his
fundraising team raise over $130,000 thus far. And there’s more good news…!
The
campaign has now received grant money of $750,000 to go with the funds raised
privately. A tender has now been
released to receive quotes from prospective contractors, and the hope is that
work could start as early as March. In
fact, the goal is to have year-round ice in by July 1, 2007! It appears that we may need to add a hockey
tournament to this year’s annual Picnic and Golf Tournament weekend!!
Thanks for
those who have helped with your support.
And if you haven’t had a chance to, it’s not too late! Donations can be made to the Village of Burk’s Falls. Or email 3milelake@cogeco.ca
for more information.
